John Barnich's Obituary

Known as the Mayor of Moore Road, Port Washington native John M. Barnich died Monday, July 8, at St. Mary's Hospital-Ozaukee Co at the age of 88.
As a young man, Mr. Barnich ran the family farm until 1930.
Shortly after his retirement from farming, he began his 25-year career as a machinist at Bolens Manufacturing in Port Washington. He retired in the late 1960s.
He was a member of the International Association of Machinists Local 1430. Mr. Barnich is remembered for the concern he expressed for third world countries.
A memorial mass will be said by Father Tom Biersack at 7 p.m., Thursday, July 11 at St. Mary's Church in Port Washington. The family will receive friends after the mass.
Entombment will be in the church cemetery.
Mr. Bamich was born May 6,1903, the son of Frank and Mary Fontaine Barnich. He married Emeline Holt of Port Washington Nov. 27, 1930, at St. Mary's Church.
He is survived by his wife, Emeline, his daughter, Charlotte Arendt of Neenah and his sister, Mary Husting, a resident at Lasata in Cedarburg. He is further survived by five grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sister and his brother.
Memorials to St. Labre Indian School in Ashland, Mont., are suggested by the family. Poole Funeral Home in Port Washington is handling the arrangements.
